“The measure of any society is how it treats its women and girls”- Michelle Obama.
It goes without saying that women are meant to be celebrated and venerated every day of
the year. Knowing the sacrifices womenkind, especially here in Malaysia, have made and the
challenges some of them have had to overcome inspired C. Michael London to hold the “Women
Assembled” showcase event. It is hoped that the invited guests, or “influencers”, women who will
share their experiences and joys, trials and tribulations, open their hearts and minds for us all to learn from.
To be held at Samba Restaurant's on the 21st of April from 3pm-6pm, the affair will
be strictly “by-invitation” only. Hopefully, the event will be attended by around 100-150 attendees,
including 20 influencers who will speak on their experiences in order to nurture the other ladies in
attendance, maybe from other generations, so that the latter’s journeys can be more easily
As stated previously, the entire event will be centred around how some women faced the
barriers they encountered. Did they go above them, under, around or simply smash through to
achieve the success they’re experiencing today? So this is definitely a golden opportunity for the
other attendees to learn from each of their shared stories.
Some of the plethora of topics that have been chosen to be discussed are what the
common challenges they had to face might have been, how and why they became the women they
are today, and most befittingly, what is the best thing about being a woman? There are many other
discussion pieces so it is hoped that we can cover all those burning questions our invited guests
might feel are on their minds.
The primary functions of this event is enlightenment. And, release. But, ultimately- learning.
Who are most aptly prepared to be role models for young ladies seeking a better tomorrow than
mature and empowered women who have been through everything they are about to go through?
This event can also be used as a form of catharsis by the speakers, in order want to get whatever
they want off their proverbial chests.
This is the kind of event that should be held as often as possible, throughout the year. This
writer firmly believes that the more opportunities women have to speak their minds on various
platforms, the better off we’ll be for it. Not just other women, but humankind in its entirety. This is
definitely an event not to be missed. Voices will be heard, lessons will be learned, tears might be
shed. So check your e-mail daily and hope you get an e-invite from C. Michael.
Hope to see you there!
